Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization

medical, academic and government clients by administering,
managing, and supporting preeminent scientific programs that
benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike.Since its
founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the
military medical community and its federal and private partners.
HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military
medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific
focus and accomplish their research goals.This position will be in
support of the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center's
(NMCPHC) EpiData Center (EDC), located in Portsmouth, VA. This
position will support the EDC as an IT Specialist serving in a help
desk type capacity. This role will require alternative work
schedules which may include weekend and evenings.EDC provides data
analysis for public health surveillance for Navy and Marine Corps
members and dependents.The EDC is the Department of Navy subject
matter experts in surveillance related to communicable diseases,
drug resistant organisms, occupational and environmental
epidemiology, and deployment related health conditions. In addition
to surveillance activities, the EDC conducts investigations and
studies, supports field experts in outbreak investigations,
provides epidemiologic and data consultation, and study design
support.HJF is seeking an IT Specialist - Help Desk to provide
support to employees or internal customers in resolving complex or
escalated technology issues. Ensures the proper day-to-day
operation of internal technology applications and equipment.
Troubleshoots software and hardware issues on laptops, desktops,
tablets, smartphones, servers, and/or network equipment. Performs
updates, repairs, upgrades, backups, and other maintenance tasks.
May also handle phone and email assistance.Responsible for the
day-to-day operation of request and incidents that are facilitated
via the Service Desk to support HJF employees. This includes
support of Mac/PCs, Printers, Network connectivity, and Telephony
and Audio/Video collaboration systems.ResponsibilitiesAssists in
collecting new requirements for development to meet customer's
needs.Assists in resolving complex IT program and implementation
issues, especially with cross platform data and IT systems that
require coordination and compatibility.Provides suggestions as
appropriate on situations requiring changes in resources, impacts
on established policies, broad program goals, or projected
timetables.Analyzes and refines customer requirements, translating
requirements into applications revisions and upgrades.Designs user
interfaces and works with customers to test applications and
assures software and systems quality and functionality.Evaluates
new applications software technologies.Writes and maintains program
documentation.Ensures that the rigorous application of information
security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices
to the delivery of application software services.May perform other
duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the
supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in
required training for role.Required Knowledge, Skills and
AbilitiesExperience with testing and troubleshooting web
applications required.Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite
required.Experience in providing technical help desk support to end
users and customers required.Experience writing Standard Operating
Procedures (SOP), training guides, quick references, tutorials, and
User Guides preferred.Experience with Disease Reporting System
Internet (DRSi), Electronic Deployment Health Assessment (eDHA),
and Health Risk Assessment (HRA) preferred.Work Environment This
position will take place primarily in an office setting. Education
and ExperienceAssociate's Degree or higher.Minimum of 3-5 years of
experience required. Must have at least 2 years in an IT
environment.All HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated
