Job DescriptionSalary: $14.00 hourThe Portsmouth Sheriff's
Office is currently accepting applications for the position of PT
Laundry Attendant. This position is responsible for the operation
of heavy-duty laundry equipment, and the supervision of jail
laundry workers. This position supervises offenders who wash/dry
clothes, and linens, and return excess clothing/bedding to supply.
Works closely with Jail Deputies to avoid misappropriation of
clothing items or linens. Inventories laundry supplies and
requisitions additional supplies as needed. Safely utilizes laundry
chemicals and detergents according to facility guidelines. Oversees
the coordination with jail staff for the timely distribution of
necessary items to inmates on a one-for-one basis.ADDITIONAL
REQUIREMENTS Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop,
crawl, twist, reach above the shoulder, grasp, and pull.
