Summary

You will serve as an Equipment Specialist in the Logistics Engineering Department, Configuration Data Management Branch (Code 621) of the Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC).

Annual salary rates for Portsmouth, VA:

GS-7: $43,894 - $57,064

GS-9: $53,691 - $69,798

Annual salary rates for San Diego, CA:

GS-7: $48,890 - $63,559

GS-9: $59,802 - $77,741

Responsibilities

  • You will perform basic tasks for providing Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics, Ordnance and Information Technology professional On-Site Logistics Support Representative services in support of Configuration Data Manager assigned projects.
  • You will will research engineering drawings, technical manuals and other technical material in order to site-validate installed equipment in support of entry into the Ship Configuration and Logistics Information System (SCLSIS).
  • You will provide assistance to senior personnel in validations necessary to ensure accuracy of equipment configuration information.
  • You will update, format and correct configuration records in Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Electronics, Ordnance and IT hardware/software disciplines via Configuration Data Managers Database- Open Architecture (CDMD-OA) work-files.
  • You will review and interpret manufacturer's and Navy drawings and technical manuals on equipment to determine configuration, physical characteristics, locations, and service/support requirements.
  • You will assists customers and 3-M Coordinators as necessary to ensure required configuration data is properly entered into any system being used to report configuration changes.
  • You will provide instructions to commands and maintenance personnel on the access/application of configuration and logistics information.
  • You will provide support to inspection and assessment teams, by ensuring the appropriate planning data has been entered into CDMD-OA for all Alteration Installation Team (AIT) equipment installations.
  • You will analyze logistics support requirements of all equipment and systems installed based on applicable supportability, reliability and maintainability logistics engineering information with project manager/senior personnel oversight.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY FOR GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a practical knowledge of the principles relating to the construction, operation, overhaul, maintenance, repair and installation of Navy equipment and systems.

TO QUALIFY FOR GS-7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a basic knowledge of equipment principles to assist with the construction, operation, overhaul, maintenance, repair and installation of Navy equipment and systems.

Education

TO QUALIFY FOR GS-9: Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

  • A master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study related to the position to be filled; OR
  • Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study related to the position to be filled; OR
  • An LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled; OR
  • A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

TO QUALIFY FOR GS-7: Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

  • One full year of graduate level education in a field of study related to the position to be filled; OR
  • A bachelor's degree in any field of study with superior academic achievement; OR
  • A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
