Number of Beds : 25 Patient Ratios : 1:5, 1:6 Unit staffing
description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : o RNs, LPNs
o Clinical Nurse Coordinators lead nurses / assistant management o
Patient Care Techs o Nurse Externs same as pcts but in nursing
school can start IVs, draw labs o Unit Secretaries o Nursing
Students intermittently o Day shift 4-5 nurses, 3 patient care
techs, 1 unit secretary o Night shift 4-5 nurses, 2-3 patient care
techs, 1 unit secretary until 11pm PRN Type of equipment o Baxter
pumps o Kangaroo pumps Documentation system meditech expanse
Scheduling requirements: o every other weekend o Call out on your
assigned weekend or holiday, it will be made up bsaed on uint need
Floating policy: o Potential to float to another medsurg. You would
rotate amongst other staff/travelers Patient Experience
requirements: o Med-surg floor variety of patients from chf, copd,
sepsis, clean cardiac caths, renal failure, new dialysis start,
etc. o CRPU = cardio renal pulmonary unit Hospital Specifics-
Certifications: BLS Hiring profile Requested Skill Set: basic med
surg nursing skills, telemetry / ekg recognition Looking for an
experienced nurse who is a team player and willing check in with
his or her peers and serve as a resource. The unit is a close-knit
family; so, anyone looking to work with the team will need to be
personable and respectful. We are very team-centered; there is no
your patient my patient they are our patients. We are also looking
for someone who has great communication skills. Our unit is
fast-paced; so, positivity is also expected. Please be thorough in
your assessments and escalation of patient-related issues or
concerns. Must have: BLS Advanced skills needed: time management,
prioritization, experience with codes, rapid responses Procedures
performed on unit: n/a Certifications Required: Dress Code:
(Required uniform) All navy blue or all white NO t-shirts, hoodies,
etc. No crocs Unit Guidelines/Policies: Please attach unit specific
policies and guidelines. Attendance and punctuality shift promptly
starts at 0700/1900 - huddle begins o Callouts made up based on
unit need o Call out 2 hours before shift start 1 occurrence o Call
out less than 2 hours before shift start 2 occurrences o No call no
show = 4 occurrences o Tardy (anything after 7) = .5 occurrence o 4
occurrences = verbal write up, 6 written, 7 final written, 8
terminations of contract Login to Imobile /careteams and Assign
patients within 30 minutes of being at work answer call lights
Telemetry Policy o Patients with telemetry orders must be placed on
tele within 30 minutes of order o You must communicate with central
monitoring when patient leaving the floor or coming off telemetry
(must have order to come off telemetry) o Central Monitoring Uses
the Following Escalation Pathway Patient off monitor CMU will
immediately call primary nurse on imobile 2 minutes patient off
monitor CMU will call charge nurse to place patient back on
telemetry 2 minutes after that (5 6 minutes total) - if unresolved
CMU will call a tele alert 1 minute after that CMU will call a
rapid - If lethal rhythm / asystole CMU will call a code blue to
room. Please communicate with them when patients are hospice or
DNR. Patients must have an order to travel off unit without nurse
and monitor if they have tele order Patients must remain on tele
even for hygiene unless their order states differently. Bedside
shift report mandatory every patient o Report in the patient s
room, at their bedside, including them in the dialogue o Update
their whiteboard o Perform iTRACE o NO REPORT AT NURSES STATION -
No Airpods Awards/Recognition: Please include anything that you

Monday-Friday (nurses in lounge will complete your discharge for
you and review with patient) Self-scheduling using timpani (some
shifts adjusted based on unitneeds) meditech expanse allows you to
document some aspects of patient care using your imobile such as
scanning medications, documenting intake/output, etc. Amazing
teamwork on both shifts. 3 night shift CNCs, 2 day shift CNCs (so
lots of resources/ support) Positive culture many of the staff
started as nursing students or pcts on the unit and have stayed and
grown Need travelers due to expansion of unit and promotions (not
because anyone has quit) Great skill mix nurses who have worked for
over 15 years, new grads, LPNs, nursing students Resource nurses,
case management, unit educator, advance care planning, physician
ambassador (lots of resources) Fast paced unit with lots to learn
