Join a dynamic pediatric critical care team helping to grow a
dedicated pediatric cardiac ICU within a 32-bed PICU. The
Children's Specialty Group at Children's Hospital of The King's
Daughters (CHKD) seeks a full-time BC/BE Pediatric Cardiac Critical
Care Physician passionate about collaboration and innovation. In
this role, you will care for general PICU and cardiac patients at
Virginia's only freestanding, independent children's hospital in
Norfolk, Virginia and work with a physician-owned multi-specialty
group. CHKD's cardiac surgery program is part of a regional
collaborative between CHKD and the University of Virginia (UVA),
referred to as the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Collaborative. The
CHKD program is supported by surgeons with over 50 years of
experience, including Dr Umar Boston (Chief of Cardiac Surgery,
CHKD) and Dr Phillip Smith (Surgical Director of the Fetal Care
Center). Currently, 100 index cardiac surgery cases are performed
each year. The planned growth with the new CICU service line is to
achieve approximately 200 cases per year. Connect with us today to

patients Work alongside 8 PICU physicians and 4 advanced practice
providers (APPs) Grow with a cardiac intensivist team expanding to
4 physicians, including a medical director Engage in teaching and
mentoring within Virginia's largest pediatric residency training
program Tailor academic involvement to your interests with no
research requirement Share a 1:9 call schedule while covering both
