PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT (PTA)SITE OF SERVICE:The primary site of service will be located in the Physical Therapy Department at NMC Portsmouth or associated Branch Medical Clinics and Tricare Prime Clinics based on patient demand.Full Time PositionPOSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:Degree: Associates Degree.Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red CrossExperience: One of the following:Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy assistant within the preceding three (3) yearsORHave graduated from a Physical Therapy Assistant program within the preceding year.Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapy assistant or possess current certification as a physical therapy assistant/technician as determined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizenEnglish Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.HOURSServices shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600 and 1700 hours.Shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight and half (8.5) to nine (9) hour period, to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute to sixty (60) minute lunch break.In addition, the HCW shall rotate providing services Saturday, Sunday and holidays.Weekend services are for in-patients only.Upon mutual agreement between the HCW and Commander, compensatory time off will be granted for weekend and holiday services.In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of eighty (80) hours per two-week period.BENEFITS:Medical/Dental/Vision/401KLife Insurance/Disability InsuranceContinuing Medical Education ReimbursementSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLSMust be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
