Learn more about this agency Responsibilities - You will serve as a subject matter expert in the implementation of Lean and process improvement methodologies. - You will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of Lean events. - You will be responsible for planning, organizing and accomplishing process improvement projects using the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints on shipyard processes and programs. - You will assist in the design and establishment of organizational processes and work systems. Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of the fundamental engineering technician concepts and terminology, the units of measurement and their inter-relationship common to other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, structural design and interrelated sciences applicable to all aspects of overhaul, repair, maintenance, modification, refueling, defueling, testing and operation of a wide variety of complex system types, relative to the shipyard's program. Experience communicating orally and in writing and utilizing automated programs to gather factual information and conduct in-depth studies and reports on trends in order to analyze and evaluate the programs and projects under the cognizance of the branch. Comprehensive knowledge and experience applying the principles and tolls of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints to shipyard processes and programs relative to naval ship overhaul, repair and maintenance. Experience planning, organizing, implementing and mentoring on a Continuous Process Improvement program for the shipyard. Experience administering the Corporate Lessons Learned program. Experience planning, organizing, implementing and conducting process improvement training on the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints and training and mentoring in the risk mitigation techniques. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying the basic scientific principles, particularly those of other engineering technician disciplines and sciences. Knowledge of the engineering technician methods and techniques gained through technical work experience in the naval propulsion program. Experience communicating orally and in writing and utilizing automated programs to gather factual information and conduct in-depth studies and reports on trends in order to analyze and evaluate the programs and projects under the cognizance of the branch. Knowledge and experience applying the principles and tolls of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints to shipyard processes and programs relative to naval ship overhaul, repair and maintenance.
