ABOUT THE ROLE The Electronics Engineer will be a critical part of the design and build team for the next generation of smart protection products for extremely rugged markets. This role will give you the opportunity to work on creating fantastic new capabilities by converging a number of innovative new technologies. You will be joining a global fast passed team working within a number of a strategic partner to bring the next-generation of smart equipment to market. As The Electronics Engineer you will be a hands-on active collaborator in the creation of a new range of smart helmet products. The Electronics Engineer will work closely with both the System Architecture team and the Industrial Design team to make sure the product functions to requirements as well as achieving the Industrial Design intent. The role requires the ability to produce electronic assembly's prototypes, conduct board design, board test and assist in final prototype assembly. This role will be central to the Integrated Systems product line with involvement in exciting new research and development projects KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceptualize electronics board shapes, technologies and materials as well as wire assembly types in order to allow Industrial Designers to produce user-focused mechatronic systems.
  • Conduct schematic, layout and routing design for PCBAs as required for prototypes and/or production
  • Prototype wire assemblies, connectors and fixing in order to produce iterative working prototypes.
  • Source and manage outsource PCBA manufacturers for POCBA production.
  • Conduct electronics testing, analyze test data, and produce incites feeding into future iterations including high speed signal testing.
  • Inform the Industrial Designers of the concentrations of requested electronics architecture.
  • Have knowledge of software design in order to assist the software development team.
  • Develop detailed product ICDs and BOMs.
  • Review complete layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
  • Prepare and present technical design and data at program review meetings.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with best practices and lessons learned.
  • Participate in DFMEA activities internally and with suppliers to ensure product failure modes and test plans are comprehended.
  • Participate in DFx activities internally and with suppliers to ensure product design is cost-effective and conforms to the manufacturing and assembly plans. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for an Electronics Engineer who is passionate about taking technologies to the limits and can add real value to the current team of talented multi-discipline engineers. You should have experience working with and understanding systems using mobile processors and high-speed signal electronic systems, especially systems operating > 500Mbps video. Applicants should be great problem solvers and have a drive for results. They should be accountable, organized, and creative where applicable. Functional and Technical skills are a must. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
    • Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering technology, computer engineering technology.
    • At least 3 years of related work experience.
    • Experience and understanding of high-speed digital signals (MIPI, LVDS).
    • Experience with mobile technologies.
    • Ability to solder and de-solder fine pitch components.
    • Ability to cut and strap prototypes.
    • Knowledge/experience with preparing product and engineering technical specifications and product performance test procedures or plans.
    • Good working knowledge of communication circuits and protocols (e. g. I2C, Serial, etc.).
    • Strong analytic problem-solving skills, using suitable tools.
    • Ability to work with software to facilitate hardware testing.
    • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout.
    • Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD for mechanical design.
    • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team; demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work under limited supervision.
