Engineering TechnicianPOSITION DESCRIPTION:This Production Planner
will prepare job summaries/ TGI's specifications from engineering
change notices, customer specifications, and/or published data
sheets. Will maintain customer specifications files; reviews
customer drawings and data; translate customer language into
standard procedures and product flow to support Task Group
Instruction (TGI) and job summary (JS) development in the
shipyard's Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) Program. Position
is located in-client at NNSY.Duties include pre-planning and
waterfront support of structural repairs and modifications for
nuclear powered submarines undergoing availabilities at Norfolk
Naval Shipyard. These duties also require development of technical
work documents (TWDs), the development of SUBSAFE reentries (forms
QA-9 and QA-10) and weld documentation forms (QA-20B Part A & B),
the review of Shapec TWD's for completeness and applicability to
NNSY work procedures and the coordination between personnel in
other codes to ensure a timely completion of prepared TWD's. Duties
also include the evaluation of URO/MRC-003 inspection results to
determine what repairs are required to accomplish certification of
the submarine for unrestricted operations.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have experience working in Norfolk Naval Shipyard
technical codes utilizing AIM software.
- Must have experience with SUBSAFE document review
- Must possess experience in one or more of the following marine
engineering disciplines: structural (Naval Architecture),
electrical or mechanical
- Must possess the ability to read drawings, blueprints, tech
manuals, and specifications of work items
- Must be familiar with working in a naval ship yard environment
and be able to work aboard marine vessels, climb ladders, work in
tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must possess ability to effectively communicate with other
disciplines or groups
- BA/BS in Engineering or a related academic field of study plus
2 yrs. directly related experience, or AA/AS plus 4 yrs. directly
related experience, or 10 - 20 years of directly related experience
via a Naval Shipyard or U.S. Navy Active Duty.SPECIFIC U.S. NAVY
RATES/ EXPERIENCE(S) DESIRED FOR CONVERSION TO THIS
FIELD:(in-lieu-of degree or prior shipyard AIM experience)
- Surface Ship or Submarine Sailors, E-5 or above: Engineman
(EN), Electronics Technician (ET), Electricians Mate (EM),
Machinist Mate (MM), Hull Technician (HT).
- Having served onboard a ship during a shipyard period as ship's
company in an engineering technical role.SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
- Due to ITAR compliance, only U.S. Persons as defined by the
ITAR regulations will be considered (ITAR- International Traffic in
Arms Regulations).

classified information.
- Must comply with Company's Driver Safety Policy if assigned to
