Job Description:

Overview The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has a requirement for lifecycle support of C4IT systems aboard Coast Guard cutters and boats. Coast Guard cutters employ electronic systems to support various missions and enhance navigational safety. The U. S. Coast Guard's Command, Control, and Communications Engineering Center in Portsmouth, VA is the System Support Agent (SSA) and System Development Agent (SDA) for all electronic navigation and sensor C4IT systems. This engineering support encompass three primary areas: provide engineering, integration, testing, documentation development and management of projects to engineer C4IT systems for Coast Guard cutters and boats; provide legacy system support services to core technology personnel, field technicians, depot level technicians and system users; and provide Transformation and modernization support services. These services support the U.S. Coast Guard's over-arching requirement for C4IT systems aboard all Coast Guard cutters and boats. Responsibilities The Engineering Technician VI shall have ten (10) years of relevant experience and current experience in engineering, design, maintenance and installation of Command Control and Communication Systems Technical experience with four of the following equipment/systems/sensors/programs or like systems: Automatic Direction Finder (ADF), Doppler Speed Log (DSL), RADAR, Encrypted Automatic Identification System (EAIS), Electronic Chart and Display Information System (ECDIS), Electronic Chart System (ECS), VEGA, Flight Deck Video System, CCTV, Visual Augmentation Systems, Cutter Video Recording Systems (CVRS), Electro Optical Infrared systems (EO/IR), Electronic Navigation System (ENS), and Scalable Integrated Navigation System (SINS), and their integration with Machinery Plant Control and Monitoring Systems (MPCMS), Dynamic Positioning Systems (DPS), and Track Controller/Autopilot systems. Provides expertise in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications to draft reports, emails, presentations, and possess a thorough knowledge of performing independent research. Develops or reviews engineering drawings to provide red-line corrections for "as built" configurations. Responsibilities include preparation of designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems. Coordinates resources, schedules installations, and performs quality assurance activities in support of USCG Engineering Change initiatives. USCG experience desired but not required.

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications to draft reports, emails, presentations, create system architecture and integration diagrams, and possess a thorough knowledge of performing independent research.
  • System Sustainment support throughout the lifecycle of multiple electronic navigation systems and sensors.
  • Coordination of installation and Quality Assurance (QA) inspection schedules to support the deployment of navigation systems and sensors.
  • Lifecycle risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) integration and engineering design solutions.
  • Conduct hardware and software light off, testing, evaluation, and resolve system issues as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to Installation Activities (IA) during system testing, prototype, and/or production events.
  • Provide on-site, phone, and email support for the purpose of technical corrective maintenance to resolve system casualties.
  • Expert level knowledge of shipboard electronic system installation and integration process and applicable Government standards.
  • Expert level knowledge of troubleshooting and corrective maintenance involving complex electronic navigation systems. Qualifications
    • BS/ MA or 4 years of additional experience preferred
      • Associated Degree in Engineering or completion of USCG or DOD Technical Schools.
      • Education and USCG/DOD Training may be substituted
      • Active Secret Clearance
      • Comprehensive knowledge of DOD military specifications and standards. Demonstrated Expert: Seven (7) years of concurrent, relevant experience in engineering, design, maintenance and installation of Command, Control and Communication Systems. - provided by Dice
